An embodied workshop exploring how to move beyond duality into authentic relationship across difference with Nikki Myers, Hala Khouri and Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts
November 7 – 10, 2019 (Thurs – Sun)
9:00am – 5:00pm each day
“Love is profoundly political. Our deepest revolution will come when we understand this truth” – Bell Hooks
Racism exists and affects all of us. Revolution Through Love: Race, Reclamation and Liberation is a training for people who want to deepen the exploration of how yoga and contemplative practices can support moving towards a world where racism, and all isms no longer exist. We are inviting in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic group to dive deeply into embodied awareness, compassionate inquiry, and radical self-reflection, the cornerstones of yoga, to investigate the root of division and the many ways it manifest, both in ourselves and the world around us.
Revolution Through Love investigates the seeming division of the current socio-political landscape as an opportunity to build bridges across difference. In it, we examine the ancestral traumas and imprints that, if not investigated and healed, can cause us to recreate and perpetuate suffering and harm. By incorporating daily integrated yoga practices that use asana, pranayama and meditation, we will explore the ways that oppression and potential liberation live in our bodies.
We believe in a future where differences are celebrated, and equity and inclusivity are the norm. We invite you to join us as we roll up our sleeves, roll out our mats and get to work to make that future real!
Discussion topics include:
- Love as revolutionary- what this is and what this is not
- Yoga and contemplative philosophy and practice as the backbone of reclamation and liberation
- Deconstructing the myth of race
- Beyond Intersectionality
- Privilege, Oppression and Liberation
- Our different roles in the revolution
- Self-care and sustainability
