This week’s Yogi in the Community is a young woman who embodies one of the most beautiful aspects of a holistic yoga practice–Service. Seva means service. In yoga traditions that honor and value the act of seva ,selfless service is embedded in daily practices on behalf of, and for the betterment of a Community. I first learned about Laila’s service when she invited me to participate in a seva outing back in October. Initially, I thought that she belonged to one of the larger community service organizations like Hands on Atlanta or Hosea Feed the Hungry, but to my surprise I found out that Anonymous Hands is a group of young adults who come together to serve on a regular basis (not just holidays).
