Our next yogi in the community is an absolute gem! I met Draupadi about three years ago during my apprenticeship at Kashi Atlanta Ashram. Draupadi’s beauty exudes not only through her spirit, but her passion behind committing her whole Self to the practice of yoga. I see Draupadi as my yoga-sister as we share a lot of the same mentors and teachers.
Rep Your City! I was born, raised, and am still firmly planted in Atlanta, Ga.
How long have you practiced yoga? I’ve practiced yoga for a little over 11 years now and have been teaching for the last 3 years.
Why do you practice yoga how do you notice yoga in your daily routine? I am a yoga student and a full time yoga teacher so yoga has an immense presence in my life. It makes me feel strong and healthy and more like me. It makes me a better woman, a better friend, a better daughter, and a better partner. Every time I roll out my mat and set an intention, I am grateful for my Guru and teachers and the tangible tools they have shared that help me learn more about myself and about how I want to be in my body, my heart, my relationships, and the world. The more I practice, the more I am able to take those tools off the mat and into my life where I can use them to open more fully to flow around me and work towards living my yoga practice with every breath. It’s a never-ending, ever-deepening process that is crucial for me to continue to grow as a human being.
Teaching yoga has changed my life. I’ve been teaching for three years and last year my friend Durgaya Palmieri and I started a yoga business called Tough Love Yoga here in Atlanta. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to share what I’ve learned through my practice and hopefully help others find more freedom in their own bodies and lives. There is nothing I would rather do with my life. I’m living the dream Check out our website at www.toughloveyoga.com!
