Our Yogi in the Community this week is a beautiful and talented friend who is no stranger to the community, the mic, or the mat. Stahhr was one of the first people I met when I moved to Atlanta and each time I see her I am inspired. Stahhr’s voice and message can ‘rock a crowd, while her light and creativity illuminates the World.
City-
Born in Memphis, raised in Atlanta. Claim both.
How long have you practiced yoga?
Over 10 years.
Why do you practice yoga?
I practice yoga to stay physically fit, to stay sane, aligned, flexible, focused, peaceful and whole. Yoga improves and balances out all areas of my life. Yoga is key for self mastery.
How do you notice yoga in my daily routine?
I am an artist, musician, teacher, mother, etc. Yoga enables me to do all of that without going nuts. When I am diligently engaged in yoga, my days run much more smoothly. When I lapse, my life reflects that. I share what I have learned through yoga in my music, when I teach, I even have my son join me, (he does a great downward dog). On stage, the breathing techniques I use in my yoga practice come in handy. I do a little yoga prior to getting on stage as well, to open and loosen up. I fast, eat a cruelty-free diet and I strive to incorporate yoga in everything I do.
